Summer Travel and Airports
When traveling, people usually throw their nutrition out the window. On one hand, I agree. I’m a foodie and have traveled to places just to try their food. However, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t track what I ate. I will be the first to say, if you love food and want to indulge on vacation, go for it! In some cases, you’ll only be able to try that food once in your lifetime.
On the other hand, it’s not an excuse to overeat for 10 days and treat your body like garbage. I have a very simple tip to help you balance your nutrition and enjoy delicious food while on vacation: Hit your protein goal.
The easiest way to do this is to bring protein packed snacks. Hit up GNC, Vitamin Shop, The Nutrition Corners, etc. and load up on them. You want to find high protein, lower carbs and fat items. You can see in the photo a good idea of brands that I’ve used in the past. Some snacks are high in fat and typically, you want to stay away from that when you know you’ll be indulging in fat heavy foods.
Always pack protein powder too. I’ve traveled with tubs, bags, and individual packs out of the country and within the United States. I’ve never had a problem traveling with it and it’s always been a life savor. Even if you only pack protein powder to help hit your goal, that’s perfectly fine too.
This is something so simple but can really make an impact on when you come back from vacation. You’ll notice that your weight will get back to normal quickly, your gut will feel healthy sooner and you’ll be more likely to get back on track faster. Developing little habits like this will help you reach your goals easier over time. Remember, it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle!
